2+2=4

1. Two more days of work until I’m retired. Retired! Hee hee …

2. Kaylie starts Grade 2 tomorrow. She’s so excited. I can remember when I was in Grade 2. My teacher was Miss Veenstra. We teased her about having a boyfriend who was a pig farmer. I got my first pair of glasses (that took up my entire face) and I was so embarrassed of them. I even remember where my desk was located. Where the heck did time go? I guess 18 years can just fly right by.

3. I am meeting with a potential childcare client tomorrow. Her kids (2 boys) are the same age as my girls. I can see this working out well.

4. I tried to put Liliana in her big girl bed tonight. I even went to Wal*Mart and bought one of those bed side rail things. When she was knocking on her door half an hour after I put her to bed, I figured now wasn’t the time.

5. I have the best husband ever. Seriously. I’m not kidding. He said today, “You know, I love you more and more every day, but you also get weirder by the day. I will never understand you. Ever.” Poor guy.

6. I just went through all Kaylie’s school supplies, labeled them individually (as per the instructions on her supply list - have you ever had to label 26 pencil crayons individually?), and put them all in her back pack. It made me miss the first day of school. Yes, I was one of those. One of those weirdos who looked forward to the first day of school and dreaded the last day of school. Yes, I was (am?) a nerd.

7. I’m totally behind in the picture taking thing. I go through cycles of taking pictures daily, to taking them weekly, if that. I’m now in the latter. I’m sure I’ll go all mom-like and take a bazillion pictures of Kaylie going to her first day of Grade 2 tomorrow. I’m going to be one of those parents who thinks it’s hilarious to embarrass their children. Kaylie and Liliana, consider yourselves warned.

8. Liliana ate a whole apple today. I had to stop her from eating the core. She only choked on the peel once, but it was only for a couple seconds. I have to do that more often. It gives me a nice half-hour break from the shrieking. OH THE SHRIEKING!

9. I got a sweet gift in the mail recently from a wonderful online friend from the recent CMHS Creature Comforts Book/Magazine Swap. I’ve been too busy enjoying it to tell you about it. Going on right now is the CMHS Local & Fair Trade Swap. It’s closed to new entries at the moment, but I’m sure the new swap will be up soon!!

10. Did I mention that I only have two more days of work? Two! TWO!!!

Yah, sorry about the pencil thing. My idea. See, it works out great because when you find a pencil on the floor, you know whos it is. S-M-R-T! I was the first to come up with it and now I have a loyal following.
Happy first day of school, Kaylie! I know she’s been waiting since…July.
    Good luck with the interview.

Another trick with the pencils is just to tape a piece of tape onto it. I guess it can come off, but I always had my tape in a particular place, maybe?

Yay, you finally got it! I was almost getting worried that something happened to it!! I hope the candy is still good! And I hope you enjoy the rest of it, too!
Yes, I had to label 4 boxes of 24 crayons, 24 pencils, 8 glue sticks and numerous other supplies with Aidan’s name for school! To me it is just nutty to label every. single. one. He is only in 1st grade, I’m sure it just gets worse! But, I got to use my new sharpie pen, so I was a little bit giddy about that! I am a nerd too Jen. You are not alone!

I skipped the Pillowcase swap and missed the last one.. :S I can’t wait to find out what the next one will be.

I can’t imagine labeling everything, I would be tempted to make stickers on the computer :)

I was informed tonight that I’m not a geek (because that’s bad, supposedly) but that I am a nerd.
