birth panic. and stuff.

I’ve been on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster the last couple days, which, well, is to be expected from someone so large and hormonal. So many things are up in the air right now, and sometimes things change in a moment and you just have to go with it. How’s that for vague, right?

This morning was pretty interesting because Liliana came in with me to my prenatal appointment. Noah was there too, but he always waits out in the lobby and Liliana wanted to come with me rather than stay with him. So, I let her. I have to draw a boundary here and not share the details, because otherwise Noah just might strangle me. Let’s just say that Liliana learned a lot today and that she came home with a (clean, sterile) keepsake.

Liliana got her own (clean, sterile) swab tube from the doctor. She was stoked. Daddy was horrified.

One of the things I can tell you is that according to yesterday’s ultrasound, Three is already 3.3kg/7.27lbs, which goes directly against my doctor’s nurse’s comment last week when she had me on the scale and said, “I’m thinking you’re just having a little baby.” Um … I may have started to panic when I was told that this one will be bigger than Liliana was, which is completely hypocritical of me since I just told someone not to worry about weight estimates from ultrasounds. But, I panicked and then hit up Twitter and was coaxed off the ledge by a couple wise women who convinced me to CALM THE HECK DOWN.

I was kind of grouchy this afternoon, but then got a call from Noah saying that a package from Bethany had arrived. She is the most thoughtful person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I’d love to say she’s the most thoughtful person I’ve ever met, but we have yet to meet in real life. One day.

Anyway, the package contained a soothing music mix (for labor!) and this dottery shirtery (also seen here).

dottery shirtery

I’m a bit of a fan of Bethany’s dottery.

Besides the fact that it’s adorable, it fits over my WHOLE BELLY. It’s one of only three shirts that still does that. I’ve become pretty talented at creative dressing, trying to cover everything with various types of clothing while still trying to look presentable.

  1. I know someone who was assured that she was going to have a 10-pounder; her baby was barely 7 pounds. I thought for sure Elliora was going to be at least 8 pounds, since at my 37-week ultrasound she measured nearly 7 pounds, but she was only 6 pounds and change. Hang in there! Whatever size the baby is, you’ll be done soon. :-)

I’m so glad the shirt fits! I wish I’d known you needed more maternity shirts sooner, I’d have sent you some of mine. I already gave most of them away and you wouldn’t have much use for them much longer anyway. (And THANK GOD for that, eh!?)

  2. I love that shirt, I too am a dottery fan! Everytime I walk by the pottery studio here I think, “Gee I should go in and do some”. That lasts about 12 seconds and I think, no I’ll just wait and buy it from Bethany – she’s infinately better.

ps. I’m glad your ultrasound turned out good, and I also hope Three is an easy to birth size.

  3. LOVE the shirt! Bethany’s dottery makes me smile. So does your cute belleh. :)

  4. Love the shirt. Love Bethany (she’s just as awesome in person:)) Sending normal size baby vibes your way :)

  5. How is it that you can look so cute?! When I was that stage of pregnancy, every photo made me look like I was that girl in the movie The Grudge.

  6. Ooo, love the shirt!! You look awesome, girl!

  7. Oh dear. I hope that you have a a healthy any size baby. I don’t think size matters, what matters is your body being relaxed and ready. I know, you know that I know, Ronin was just shy of 11 lbs and super easy to deliver. Easier than the 7, 8, and 9+ lb-ers. (maybe I am er stretched out, but I was really ripe!) And as for ultra sound size, with me they were off, all mine were bigger but that is because they measure bones, not fat. I have fat babies. Anyway, really, just relax, kick bakc and listen to some acupressure music, do you have some, if not I’ll send it to you. It really works. Hmmm, you will do awesome, you look adorable!! And that is totally 99% of it! I love you

  8. I was told 11 pounder but had a 8pound 13 oz baby, so they are way off lots of times. I had gestational diabetis too, if that comforts you a little :)

  9. LMAO at Liliana’s keepsake! Ha!

  10. My BIGGEST baby 8lbs 14oz was also my easiest and fastest delivery. We arrived at the hospital and 45min later BOOM! There she was! And NO STITCHES!!! Awesomest labor ever! :)

  11. My friend Chantelle just had her second baby! I’m not sure if you remember her and Andrew or not. At the end of her pregnancy she did not have a single shirt that would go over her belly, she even has a picture up on her facebook. Her labor lasted less than 5 hours from start to finish (first contraction at about 11:15pm, Reid was born at 3:46 pm) and he weighed 9lbs8oz (maybe I should have left that part out….)
You will do fine when Three decides to grace you with their presence I am sure of it!
Love your shirt and I too got a bit of a laugh at Liliana’s keepsake!

  12. Adorable shirt! Also, is that a…swab?? Gah :P

  13. My first baby was 9 lbs 13 ozs (YIKES! And also, OUCH!). When I was getting ready to deliver my second baby, my doctor told me, “I might need to bring another doctor in here, because I think she’s going to be pretty big”… hello, panic! The delivery went perfectly, and she was only 8 lbs 5 ozs. So, hang in there, and don’t worry! (I know, I know, so easy to tell someone when you’re not the one about to give birth.)

  14. Love the shirt!

  15. You are beautiful! And that shirt is so cute! And Liliana cracks me up sooooooooo hard!
