I’ve been walking a lot lately. 24k so far this week (since Sunday). Why? I can’t drive. Well, I can, but I’m not allowed to.

Noah would love to tell you (and has told some people) that I got a DUI. Funny man, he is, but that is not the truth. (I’ve been pulled over for many things, but never for that.) My license expired on the 31st of May and I acquired quite a few points on it during my last year in Regina. A couple speeding tickets, a stop sign ticket, and … I think that’s it. Anyway, I haven’t paid off the points yet (don’t get me started on how lame it is to pay the ticket and then the points on top of that) (I hate driving). So, until I fork over a bunch of hundreds to SGI, I cannot renew my license and therefore will not be behind the wheel.

Noah’s been driving Kaylie to and from school before and after work for the last couple weeks as I recovered from a minor surgery I had at the end of May, but since she isn’t liking the after-school program as much as she used to, I figured I’d try and pick her up as much as I could.

I put Preston in the wrap, Liliana in the Chariot, and made the 6k trek to Kaylie’s school in an hour. We got there a little early and, thankfully, I found a bench by the playground to <strike>pass out on</strike> rest on before we headed back.

Noah brought Kaylie’s bike in the morning, so she hopped on that and we made the 6k trek home. A couple things sucked, like the fact that I forgot my runners in the car and had to walk all that way in my Chucks. Ouch. I could hardly walk by the time we made it home. And, Kaylie forgot her helmet so I made her bike at the same pace as I was walking.

I’m hoping to do this as many times as I can before Kaylie’s done school and get some of my strength back so I can start running again. After a really rough pregnancy, I’m much weaker than I’d like to be. But, with a 15lb baby and no license, I’ll be back in shape in no time, right?

In other news, my ornery, teething, recovering-from-shots baby was wakened (awakened?) for the second time this week by a couple of Jehovah’s Witnesses ringing the doorbell. It happens at least twice a week from JWs, Mormons, and money-seekers and I’m SO DONE with it. So, I put up this sign, as I don’t know how to disable my doorbell:

My alternate was “I know Jesus and I have no money” but I liked the above one better.

If they (or anyone) ring that bell and wake my baby again, I’m buying a gun.
