I’m feeling all apathetic and depressed today, for reasons I can share with you later, and I was tempted to just say, I DON’T CARE! and blow off Day One of this NaBloPoMo thing, but I knew I’d regret it, so I’m here to bring you down to my level with run-on sentences.

You see, though, there’s this little boy who lives with me who has the ability to brighten my day in seconds. He doesn’t even have to do anything. He just has to be. And I just have to watch.

There are things happening in November that I am excited about — blog-type things and life-type things and I know the month will get better. Today, though, I am going to let myself melancholily (that is so a word) sit around and watch my baby discover what noises his lips can make and how long he can play with the remote before his dad takes it away.

This dude is a jumper. A jolly jumper. I posted the above photo on Facebook via Instagram and my friend Jodi (Hi, Jodi!) requested a video. So, here is said video.

I wish we’d thought to get one of these things earlier, as it only goes to 28lbs and according to the bathroom scale today, Preston is 20.8lbs. Besides the 20 minutes he was in there, I’ve been holding him since 7:30 last night (it is nearly 5:30pm here). I think he’s getting (more) teeth. Someone please tell him to start acting like a four-month-old.

I love the look on his face between laughs. Kaylie was hiding and popping out and I love his “oh, where’d she go? where’d she go?” expression. This kid is the greatest entertainment.

I’m confused as to whether I gave birth to a baby or a pterodactyl.

I hope he holds off on his teeth for a while yet (although he’s drooling up a storm and I can see tooth buds) because there’s nothing better than a big gummy grin.

Preston is trying to keep up to his sisters’ constant chatter.
He’s doing a pretty good job of it.
