Thanks to three awesome ladies (Kami – crib, Anna – mattress, and Laurie – bedding) I set up Preston’s crib today. He’s almost grown out of his bassinet already. He’s only got an inch or two until he’s too long for it.

I’m not quite at the point where I’m comfortable with him sleeping in his crib all the time yet, though. There are two reasons for this. One is that he still wakes up at night and going down the hall to get him just seems like so much work. The other reason is that he is going to share a room with Liliana.

If you’ve spent a lot of time with Liliana, you’ll know what I’m talking about and understand my concern. She’s, well, an independent spirit. She doesn’t understand the word “gentle” yet, and I’m quite scared that she’s going to come out of her room carrying him in a headlock. I’ve heard stories. Older siblings do these things.

So, for now, it’s set up and I’ll use it for an odd nap here or there when Liliana is NOT in the room. Or maybe I’ll build a brick wall around it with barbed wire on top and maybe it will keep her out. Or maybe I’ll put her in a straight jacket while she sleeps. Oh, who am I kidding. She’ll be out of that thing in three seconds flat.

Soon enough my little linebacker will be 6’6″, 250 lbs, and I won’t have to worry about his older sister anymore.
