cut
So, I’d been talking to my friend Venessa for a couple weeks (months, maybe?) about cutting my and Kaylie’s hair and we FINALLY got around to actually getting it done today. (I’m not a procrastinator AT ALL.) When I talked to her last Sunday, she mentioned something about our hair being long enough to donate to one of those places that makes wigs for cancer patients. Since I was desperate to get a LOT chopped off (long hair = headaches) and Kaylie wanted hers short, I said sure! why not?!
So. We did.
(the “before” one of me from the front? not going to make an appearance on the internet. nope.)
I’d forgotten to bring my camera, so Venessa offered for me to use hers and sent me home with the SD card. Thanks, lady!
Kaylie went first.
She got 8-9 inches taken off. Eight inches was the minimum we could donate. Kaylie desperately wanted bangs. I figured that if I (or she) didn’t like them, they’d just grow back anyway. I wanted to let her make her own decision on how she had her hair cut. (With guidance, of course.)
That comb is seven inches long, and Kaylie’s (curly) hair is braided, so it looks shorter. Jeremy guessed my longest piece to be about 12 inches, and now that it’s beside the comb, it looks like he was pretty accurate. Maybe 14 inches?
When we were done, Liliana wanted a turn. I was doubtful of her ability, at 45 minutes past her bedtime (or at all, really), to sit still long enough for a proper haircut, so Venessa just cut a couple millimetres off (so that Liliana could see her hair on the floor), combed it for a bit, and put it in a braid.
She gave instructions, saying, “Shorter! I want it shorter!”
When we were in the car on the way to show Big Papi and Miss Sue our haircuts, Liliana kept saying, “I look like a different person!” I love the innocence (and gullibility) of the age of three.
I think she looks pretty adorable. It’s a HUGE difference and she LOVES it. She’s never had her hair cut that short before, nor has she had bangs (besides the awful incident about two years back where she cut them HERSELF).
You know those days that you kind of feel like you’re having a “fat day”. Um, hi! Nine months pregnant! EVERY day is a fat day! (Although I’ll bet my belly is tighter and harder than yours.) (Except you, Teresa.)
I love both cuts. My head feels a thousand pounds lighter. I really loved my long hair, but since it is so thick, I just can’t have it that long and avoid headaches. I pretty much just let Venessa (and Sue) pick my cut, since I’ve seen her handiwork on others and liked it. And also, I hate making decisions.
So thanks, lady! We’ll grow it out for another three or so years and do it all over again!

HOly geeez its short ! I’ve never seen kaylie with such short hair.. nuts !
Yay! Lookin’ fab, lady. Way to donate!!
Wow what a huge cut! You look smokin’ and Kaylie looks adorable!
Talk about transformations! You both look great! I love dramatic haircuts. I always grow my hair, then hack it all off every three years just for the shock value. Good times. :)
Way to go girls!! Looks so cute. I have to say it pretty much took my breath away to see Kaylie…shocker! You are right Jen, CUTE!! I just had my 8 inches cut too and got the same cut as you Jen. It feels great and uses much less shampoo and cond. now :)
Love you guys
xoxoxo
Love, love, love it! Way to go!
Aww, Kaylie is adorable! I was about her age the first time I had really short hair too! I loved it when my parents finally let me have the final say about my haircuts, it was fun going back and forth between short and long.
And your haircut is fantastic! It really suits you and looks good!!! And oh, the feeling of a much-lighter head. Ahhhhh.
Wow Jen! Yours really suits you! It looks great!

Great haircuts and great use of what was cut off too. I’ve never had enough cut off to donate; I just yo-yo up and down between not too short and not too long ;-)
Both Kaylie and you look really good. And the nine month pregnant look is nothing short of beautiful. Sending you good karma for a quick labour and delivery. Hugs and love, Joanne
You both look great!!!!
Whoa! First of all, I had no idea your hair was so long! Second, you both look great. Nice and fresh for spring. :)

Wow, you two look great!! I can’t believe how long your hair was. And, neat that you donated your hair, too. Very cool!
Also, sounds like it was a fun girls nite out for you three :)
Cute! I love both your cuts. That girl of yours is brave to lose so much hair at once. I bet she feels like a million bucks.
I love them both! SUCH a drastic change, but SO GREAT. :)
Wow! Wow! Wow!
Love the cuts! What a transformation. So cool that you could donate the hair. I couldn’t believe that your hair was so long – haven’t cut it in 2 years??
OMG, I didn’t think it was possible for either of you to be cuter, but wow, are you both cuter!
You both look awesome!! Wow what a difference on Kaylie, she looks older:)
You look so great!
Wow!! Your hair looks lovely, and Kaylie looks like a totally different person.. (sorry If I’m repeating an above comment, don’t have time to read them :)

Wow hat a big difference for you both! I have hacked a lot off my hair like you a couple time and it is always crazy how light your head feels afterwords.
So fun that you both got a big cut at the same time. You both look super!
