Weight: 19.2 lbs
Height: 28.25 inches
Clothing size: mostly 12 months, some 18 month items
Mr. Preston has learned some new tricks this past month. He can now grab and play with toys, he can push himself up so that his arms are straight in a push-up position, and he arches his back when he gets mad. This last one is FUN and has caused me to almost drop him a time or two. My little almost-20-pounder is STRONG (and still above the 97th percentile).
His eyes are changing color. I’m not sure if they’re going brown or green (I’m hoping for green), but I do know they will not be blue. I learned from my dad, recently, that his dad had red hair. I thought the red hair just came from Noah’s side, but apparently not. I so love Preston’s red hair and it’s looking like it’s here to stay.
Preston’s sleeping patterns haven’t changed a whole lot since last month. The only thing that’s changed is that he sometimes takes a longer afternoon nap and usually cuts out his evening nap. He still sleeps in our bed after his first night feeding, but I’ve really got to cut this out. Although I’ve grown to like having him sleeping there beside me, I don’t get much sleep. I need to start putting him back in his bed, but I’m just always afraid that he’s going to wake up when I do that.
We did some car seat transitions this month. Liliana transitioned into a booster seat, and Preston transitioned into her five-point-harness seat. Carrying around the infant car seat was just too much for me, and plus, the handle was bending because he’s so heavy. So, I keep a sling and/or a wrap in the van so that I still have some easy way of packing him around. (Side note: If someone calls him a giant baby again, I will slug that person.) (I’m not sensitive about his size (I love it), but I am sensitive about the adjectives used to describe him. Big? Yes. Giant? NO.)
Dude loves to stand. He’s been doing it almost from Day 1, but he’s getting stronger and better at it now. He can hang on to just one hand and not tip over for a couple seconds. He’s starting to be able to sit up, as well, but also tips over after a couple seconds. Watching a baby tip over? Pretty hilarious.
My and Noah’s favorite thing to do is make Preston laugh. He’s become ticklish and it’s the most hilarious thing. It’s like he can’t even control it. His giggle is pretty much the best sound ever.
I kind of love him.
