Love is a decision … sometimes a really tough one
I’ll apologize now for lack of interesting posts - I’ve been trying my best to stay away from the computer lately.
It’s been wonderful.
My house (and my family!) is grateful for the closing of the laptop.
Can I make it up to you with a picture of a cute baby in her new (and oh so cute) dress from Auntie Teresa?

How about another one? With snot hanging out of her nose?! And her face a bit fuzzy because apparently I focused too much on the dress, and not enough on her face?!

What have I done while the laptop was closed? Here’s a peek:
1. I mastered the in-and-out-in-five-minutes-because-my-baby-is-alone-downstairs (and safe! in her playpen!) shower. (Usually I’m in there for at least 15 minutes, so this is an accomplishment.)
2. Last night I hosted a now weekly “widow’s dinner” and had the best homemade pizza ever.
3. My baby turned 10 months old on Monday!
4. I got another hilarious phone bill. This time, out of the 59 long distance calls we made between January 15 and February 14, 56 of those calls were to Noah’s parents. Dude. The kid misses them just a tad.
5. I learned that my favorite way to clean is to put a couple sermons on my iPod (which apparently now is an old school iPod) and listen to them while I clean. Multitasking!
I used No. 5 tonight while I was preparing the house for the showing tomorrow. We’ve had a nice break from making the house look completely perfect, and it’s been nice.
I had planned to have the house clean before the kids went to bed so that Noah and I would still be able to have our quiet time together (aka watching Home Improvement Season 2) while they were in bed, and then … all hell broke loose.
Liliana woke up from her evening nap.
And started screaming.
And did not stop.
The kid loves baths. When nothing else works, we put her in the bath and she is happy as a clam. After about half an hour of screaming and not knowing what the heck to do with her, Noah and I decided to put her in the bath. In the 30 seconds it took to pour run her a bath, she was silent. The second she was put into the bath, the screaming started again. Goody.
I took her out, because really, the bath was not happening.
With a screaming Liliana in my arms, I walked in to Kaylie’s room to tell her to get ready for her bath. Liliana stopped screaming. Hm.
I put her down. She started giggling, and crawled (still naked!) toward Kaylie and her Polly Pockets. Hm.
What. a. monster.
I picked Liliana up to put a diaper on her so that she would not pee on Kaylie’s floor. She screamed. I put her down. Giggling. I went and got a diaper instead and brought it to Kaylie’s room. I pinned her down and put the diaper on her. She screamed. With the diaper on, I let her go. Giggling.
I can’t wait for the terrible twos.
I let her play with Kaylie for a couple minutes (to rest my poor ears) and then took her kicking and screaming (literally) to her room to dress her and put her to bed while Noah poured ran Kaylie’s bath.
As I was preparing her swaddle blankets (yes, we’re still swaddling her), Liliana crawled away, as usual. She went out her door to Kaylie’s room. Seeing Kaylie was not there, she made her way to the bathroom and pulled herself up to the side so that she could giggle again with Kaylie.
Sometimes love is a feeling. Sometimes it’s more of a decision.
When I was pregnant with Lili, I told Kaylie that she would be the baby’s favorite person in the whole world.
I had no idea how true that would be.

It’s a good thing she’s so darn cute!
