not so shabby for a Monday
So, you know how spring starts in twelve days? And how there’s still two feet of snow in my yard? And how the temperatures are supposed to be in the negatives for at least the next week? Well, I’m okay with it. I was challenged on Sunday to even be thankful for it.
This is the day which the LORD has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24 NASB
It’s pretty easy to have a good attitude with all the SUN and BLUE SKY we’ve been having, I’m going to have to work harder to be thankful on the cloudy, miserable days. But, like I said, I’m okay with the snow sticking around until the baby’s born so that Liliana isn’t disappointed when she sees grass and no baby.
Speaking of Three, I got to have an ultrasound yesterday. Apparently they do them routinely at about 8 months here in Saskatchewan. I had one in BC at 37 weeks with Liliana, but that was because they thought she was big, not because it was something they normally did.
Noah and Liliana came with me. I was excited for Liliana to witness the ultrasound. Kaylie got to witness my last ultrasound with Liliana, so it was really cool for me to watch Liliana witness this one. Noah kind of fell asleep, but I wasn’t upset with him. He’d been up for many, many hours with very little sleep. When the tech was squirting the goo on my belly, Liliana said to her, “Hey! You’re drawing pictures!” Little did she know, that wasn’t even the best part.
We had THE best ultrasound tech. She was chatty, friendly, and great with Liliana. AND, I came in with a full bladder like they asked, and she told me to go empty it so that I’d be more comfortable. She said it was easier for her that way too. Score! When she’d finished up, she said something about us having a “great-looking baby”, which I took to mean that he’s got proper-sized lungs, heart, head, etc, and that she didn’t see anything that concerned her.
When Noah saw the photo she gave us, though, he was concerned that our child looked like a dinosaur. Dude. Ultrasound photos are WEIRD LOOKING. I’m sure the tech would have said something if our baby was half human and HALF PREHISTORIC CREATURE. Either way, I’m sure I’ll find out at my appointment today.
I usually really dread Mondays, but an unexpected lunch out with all three of my lawyer bosses, a chance to see little Three, and watching Liliana’s reaction to seeing Three on the screen totally made it a better-than-usual Monday. And plus, after yesterday, I only have to work three more Mondays this year. THAT is pretty wonderful.

Because I had high blood pressure, my pregnancy with Elliora was considered high risk and I had weekly ultrasounds in the last couple of months. When Brenda and Bug were here they came with us to an appointment so Bug would get to experience an ultrasound, and she thought it was really neat. Annalie, meanwhile, was a veteran of something like a dozen ultrasounds at that point and was all, “Whatever, are we done yet? I wanna go home!”
That’s awesome! Ultrasound photos are great and slighlty hilarious. Every “sees” things that may or may not be there and listening to those who have no idea expertly show their way around them is entertaining. Like the time my Dad was showing the ultrasound of my first daughter pointing to her face saying, “Isn’t that the cutest tushie”…um no.
Yay for three more Mondays of work. And double yay for the ultrasound!!! Thanks for posting the pic :)
I saw the ultrasound pic on Facebook and said, “BABY!” because I like to scare my cat by randomly shouting out words ;-)
I never tire of ultrasound photos. YAY BABIES.
YAY THREE!!! So excited for you guys!
