Ode to my Family: My Mom
Other odes:
My dad
Today I introduce you to another member of my family.
Meet my mom
Her name is Florence. She is a school secretary. She loves pictures, delft blue, doing crafts of all kinds, Brad Paisley, hanging out with her kids and granddaughters (maybe soon she’ll get a grandson!), and is incredibly creative.

She (on the left with Liliana) speaks a dialect of Dutch only she and my aunt Trix (her sister, on the right with Maya) can understand.
She is a spelling and grammar nazi and hates it when I find mistakes in the school’s weekly newsletter that she publishes. Yes, Valentine’s Day does have an apostrophe.

She also loves to fish.
She has always been supportive of me, which I appreciate more than words can explain. She and my dad have been quite generous to me, especially in the years that it was just me and Kaylie. (Free babysitting!)
My mom has my ungift (or I have hers?) of the inability to say “no”. She is involved in a bazillion activities (mostly ones that my youngest brother and sister are involved in) and is rarely home. A couple years ago I gave her my cell phone. She needs a cell phone.

My mom helped me plan my wedding and I could not have done it without her. She made me a bouquet of fake flowers (real ones make me sneeze and I did not want to sneeze through the whole ceremony) that looked way more beautiful thank I thought fake flowers could look.

She definitely loves being a Grannie (with an “IE” not a “Y” - because grannys with a “Y” are old). She is totally stoked to almost be a Grannie to 4. Any day now. Right Teresa?
Thank you for giving me life, for always being there for me, and for being the best mom I could ever imagine.
I love you Mom!

Yep, any day now!
Got your package today :) So fun to see the baby clothes again.
Teresa’s last blog post..39 weeks
Such a great post idea–”Ode to…” I may have to borrow it.
Your mom sounds like a fantastic ladie–I spelled it with an “ie” because I didn’t want it to look old :-)
The Over-Thinker’s last blog post..These Should Go in the Vault (But not like The Disney Vault which we know isn’t really a vault but more like a temporary holding cell.)
i must say, she is my most favorite aunt! she must be in order for me to watch borring cadets when ever they are in town :) haha. Shes Great!
Chelsey’s last blog post..Mayas first trip to the OR
Wow! Your mom and aunt look alike!!!
Do other people in the world speak the dialect? Or is it a dying/almost dead language???
And I love Kaylie’s hair in that last picture! So cute!
