Something old, something new

Lake!

As promised, the rest of the lake pictures! The kids totally loved it, and Kaylie’s been asking every minute since when we can go back.

Lake!

It was Liliana’s first time at the lake since she was a wee little baby.

Lake!

She totally loved running her fingers through the sand.

Lake!

And, of course, enjoyed eating it as well.

Lake!

Kaylie was stoked that we actually brought sand toys this time. She was, however, disappointed that we did not bring any flotation devices.

Lake!

Lake!

She eventually went in the cold ripply water anyway, but figured that making mud pies was much more fun.

Lake!

Liliana, the timid one, walked down to the water to see what Kaylie was up to.

Lake!

To my surprise, she actually went into the water a bit. I held on to her, since I didn’t want her to do a face plant in her cute birthday dress from Auntie Tali.

Lake!

I discovered that it’s a lot more fun to have kids eat messy items when they’re outside. No clean up = a happy mommy.

Lake!

It’s so beautiful out there, I wish I could spend every day there. I’m going to have to go exploring around Regina for some good lakes …

I spend part of this week cleaning and organizing my office and my work computer in preparation for finishing my job. As I was going through and deleting my pictures, I found some that were from a trip Kaylie and I made shortly after Noah and I were married. We went to Vancouver to see my brand new (now two-and-a-half-year-old) niece, and then to Edmonton to see a friend of ours. I love her eye for capturing moments. Here’s a couple of my favorites.

Images by me!

Meet Randee. As you can tell, she’s one of Kaylie’s favorite people. Oh yea, and I took this picture.

Kaylie, the ever outgoing one, made fast friends with Randee’s friend Eric.

We took a walk down Whyte Avenue so we could hit the Marble Slab. Have you ever heard of that place? It has the best ice cream EVER.

We’d just come from the wave pool at West Edmonton Mall and had forgotten to bring a brush, so we had the best hair ever.

It seems so long ago that she was four.

Trust. Love. Try. Focus.

She was learning how to skip, and could only do it on one side.  Probably the cutest thing ever.

I had lunch today with Ann (It’s her birthday!) and my first blog-friend-turned-real-life-friend Laura. Actually, I didn’t really have lunch with them, it was more like Kaylie and I showed up when they were all done eating and were holding their bills. My fault, not theirs. I don’t want to talk about it.

Anyway, Laura is an organizing junkie. Literally. As she and Ann were talking about organizing Ann’s play room, I realized I could totally use her advice in how to have a successful organized move. I got help. She’s amazing. If you need to organize anything, go check out her site.

Remember when I said that today is supposed to be my packing day? It didn’t exactly turn out that way.  It’s a good thing I only work three days a week.

Well, then… Happy packing for another day. Great pictures, and yes… marble slab is fantastic. We used to go there when we lived in Kelowna. My fave - raspberry vanilla cake. Yummmmmm.

I think Randee had one of those pics on facebook or something, and I hadn’t seen any pictures of Kaylie since she was wee, and I couldn’t figure out how Randee had a kid of that age without me hearing about it (this was in the days BEFORE I read your blog!) Then she ’splained to me who Kaylie was and I was like…DUDE KAYLIE’S OLD!!!!
Mostly cuz I don’t think I’ve seen you since you were days away from birthing her, at Carmen and Bobbie’s wedding!
